1Efited review One star for the price and now for the product
By Mauimama
Costco in Laguna Niguel, CA is now selling it for $9.99. Just bought it today so don't have any product experience yet but I've been using their drip coffee maker for years. Good quality.Ok, now that I've used it, here is my product review.Cons: you are supposed to cook on medium heat. I filled this pot and my old traditional round same capacity aluminum pot with the same volume of water in each. I put the new one on medium heat and the old one on high heat on my gas burners. The old one came to a full rolling boil in 17 minutes, the new one in 37 minutes. Way too long.I then dumped out the water and cooled the pot down and started all over again with just the new pot. On high heat, it took 20 minutes until bubbles appeared all over the bottom of the pot. They never did rise, but I put the spaghetti in anyway and set my timer. The pasta was cooked it what appeared to be two minutes less than the usual required time.Draining was hazardous. I tightened the lid as securely as I could and started to pour out the water. The steam quickly rose and fogged up my glasses so I couldn't see what was happening but I sure could feel the hot water soaking into the pot holders I was required to use since the pot handle were prohibitively hot. Only when the steam cleared and I refilled the pot with cold water was I able to see that there was water coming out not only through the strain holes but also through the open space between the lid and the pot, a veritable waterfall of water which splashed up along the handles. And that wasn't the only draining problem. As I was draining the spaghetti, I tilted the pot until I thought all the water had drained out. I removed the lid and dumped the pasta into the bowl of sauce. The pasta and the remaining water! Diluted sauce!! In my pasta-less drain test, the fogless cold water showed me that in order to drain all the water out, I needed to turn the entire pot completely upside down, a situation I wouldn't trust with a waiting hungry family. So, for $10, I'll keep it and cook on high heat and strain with my own pasta strainer.Oh, and the aluminum bottom made horrible grey marks on my counter.

4So far so good

I love how I do not have to dirty an additional dish (strainer). I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because it recommends to not boil on high heat. This makes it take longer to boil but I guess this will help make the pot last longer.

4Very nice pasta pot!
By Stan Durbin
I bought this because I lost my much loved Cuisinart pasta pot to the ex and it's no longer manufactured. This Bialetti is a great value! It's not as solid as the Cuisinart but I actually prefer the "clamping" mechanism on the Bialetti over the Cuisinart's notched mechanism. With the Bialetti, locking the lid on to drain the water is quick and simple. The non-stick coating makes it a breeze to clean. This isn't a great general purpose pot but I probably won't use this pot for anything but pasta and, for that, it works fantastic!
