This pot is lightweight stainless steel. The bottom scorched through, (blackened) on it's first use. I used it on my stove's 16,000 BTU burner, but that has not been a problem for my other cookware. The fried chicken it produced was good, but I'm sure this pot can't stand up to heavy use. Buy it only for occasional use. If you plan to fry alot, buy a basket for your dutch oven or buy a commercial aluminum fry bottom/basket.

I use this pot with my BC SQ14 outdoor burner. I picked it over the aluminum pot because SS is better quality. SS is easier to clean and for this combo, I can just wipe with a soapy sponge to get it squeaky clean. SS is much more expensive though. It takes awhile to get the peanut oil up to the recommended temperature of 350F to fry. The temperature drops by about 15-20F once food is put into the oil. I've been doing my frying as of late right after getting it for Thanksgiving, so the average outdoor temperature when I've fried has generally has been around 40-50F.The one thing that bothered me the first time I used it was that seemed as though oil was leaking through the rivets that secure the handles onto the pot. The handles come permanently installed, so it's not like the handle for the basket that needs to be screwed on. This can be dangerous if oil leaks out to the burner and catches fire. The leaking seems to have stopped, or maybe lately, my oil level is below where the rivets are.The package comes with a thermometer. It's useful in monitoring the temperature, but is not visible if you have the lid on the pot while heating the oil up to the desired frying temperature. The pot can hold a decent amount of food, but you initially don't want to put too much in to fry because it will drop the temperature a great deal and you will have greasy results. Also, there will be a lot of splatter if your oil level is too high. I can put about 6 whole chicken wings at a time or 30 pieces of shrimp.Everything for the most part seems sturdy.
